I'm here in the kitchen, y'all,
0:04
enjoying a little bit of my day
0:05
by going back in the day with Cheryl Day.
0:11
- She has a fabulous bakery here in town
0:13
I'm going to share a recipe with Cheryl.
0:16
- And this is one of my favorite's y'all.
0:18
An Italian pasta salad.
0:20
I've got some bowtie pasta.
0:25
If you would drain that, Cheryl.
0:25
Let's come on down here
0:27
and we're gonna put together a pasta salad.
0:29
Hopefully you'll like this and you can always
0:31
- Paula, there's nothing you cook that I'm not gonna like.
0:36
Well, let's just say we appreciate each other's cooking.
0:41
I'm going to need like two cups of cherry tomatoes sliced in
0:44
half and I need a half of a bell pepper diced.
0:49
- And I've got some Kalamata olives
0:52
and I'm going to need like two thirds of a cup.
0:55
So if you would just cut those in two.
0:57
- So this is like Italian pasta salad.
0:59
Yes, yes, but you know, I like my pasta,
1:03
just a little on the sweet side.
1:06
Now we've got one, four ounce can of mushrooms.
1:09
- Okay. - Sliced mushrooms.
1:10
We need two thirds of a cup of that.
1:13
- And then we've got some fresh Parmesan cheese
1:15
when we get all of our salad mixed up
1:18
we'll grate some of this on it.
1:20
- Oh yeah, 'cause Paula you know, any recipe
1:22
you can give me 'cause I'm still the Baker.
1:25
- I'm happy to share with you.
1:27
I'm going to start making our dressing.
1:29
And Jamie made all my pasta salads in the bag.
1:34
This was a big bag lady,
1:36
- Okay. - lunch that we served.
1:38
And Jamie Dean got where he could make the best pasta salad.
1:43
Now I'm measuring out one cup and this was just a store
1:47
bought balsamic vinegarette dressing.
1:50
- So you can, you can. - I love that sweetness.
1:55
So I'm going to put that in my bowl.
1:58
And then I'm going to add a fourth of a cup of mayonnaise
2:02
and you know, I'm just going to kind of
2:06
Paula, I think that's cool enough.
2:08
Do you want to take the spatula and give it a toss or?
2:15
Now you can use any kind of pasta that you want.
2:19
And because I said I liked it a little sweet,
2:22
here comes the sugar.
2:23
I'm going to put one tablespoon of sugar in that.
2:26
So this is so easy to make.
2:28
While I mix this up, you just go ahead
2:32
and toss all those chopped veggies,
2:34
right on into our pasta.
2:35
All right, stick your finger in this, Cheryl
2:38
and tell me what you think.
2:40
Just stick your finger in there.
2:41
Fingers are fine in my kitchen.
2:48
It's got a nice little sweetness to it.
2:49
- Uh huh, just that little bit of sweet.
2:51
Oh, and I'm going to add just a little salt and pepper.
2:54
Just about half a tablespoon of each.
3:00
Then slice the Kalamata olives.
3:04
Add them right along with the bell pepper and the dressing.
3:08
That's going to be good with our sandwiches, Paula.
3:10
Yes, I can't hardly wait Cheryl,
3:13
Just mix it up now and top it
3:15
with that grated Parmesan cheese.
3:17
Well, Cheryl, go ahead, honey,
3:19
and serve up some of that Italian pasta salad for us.
3:22
- Is that enough for you?
3:23
Listen to the crunch.
3:26
- Ooh, that looks so good.
3:27
Yeah, because I'm saving, I'm saving room for the dessert.
3:31
- Oh that looks so good.
3:35
Is this sinful or what y'all?
3:38
- It looks delicious, Cheryl.
3:40
- Okay you ready? - Okay grab you a stool.
3:55
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
