Get ready for this
0:02
An unsuspecting contest winner who works inside this aquarium is in desperate need of a new kitchen
0:09
She's about to receive the surprise of a lifetime from one of her favorite celebrity chefs
0:14
Make way for a dream kitchen come true here in Mystic, Connecticut. Food Network wants to give you the kitchen of your dreams
0:34
It was this contest on the Food Network that generated thousands and thousands of tapes
0:41
Homeowners from across the country sent us tapes claiming to have the worst kitchens ever
0:47
Kitchens in desperate need of a makeover. All-star kitchen makeover, can you help us
0:54
We looked through each and every one of those tapes and closely examined all of the applications worthy of a complete overhaul
1:03
Well, here's what we've got to work with. My cameras are too high for me. I'm short
1:08
Kitchen on top of kitchen qualified. I think they say new kitchen, new kitchen
1:13
Four winners would get new kitchens. They'd be chosen from across the country and paired with their favorite Food Network celebrity who would help in the design of a brand new kitchen
1:24
Emeril Lagasse, Alton Brown, Bobby Flay, and Paula Deen jumped on board to help in this all-star kitchen makeover
1:34
Finally, in the batch of thousands, a couple of newlyweds in need caught our attention
1:40
They just purchased their first house ever. As you can see, we're here, and we're eagerly adding our own personal touches
1:46
But those personal touches couldn't disguise Shelly and Brian Brower's 100-year-old dilapidated kitchen
1:51
Our kitchen, as you can see, is an obvious disaster. The stove is all by its own so over here
1:58
The sink is all the way over here. And yet even further away is the refrigerator
2:06
We obviously need more counter space. Difficult to make even a simple omelet
2:11
There's also so little storage, I don't know where we're going to put everything
2:16
As much as I would miss the faux brick laminated floor. And I think those are strawberries on the border
2:24
In other words, the kitchen doesn't work, and what Shelly and Brian really want is a kitchen in keeping with the house
2:30
They want a country farmhouse kitchen. So we found their perfect match
2:34
the Food Network celebrity chef who can truly define and design country
2:39
for this couple in need. Shelly and Brian have been married a little over a year
2:44
They left the Florida Keys when Shelly accepted a job with the Mystic Aquarium as a sea lion trainer
2:53
Brian's an architectural draftsman and carpenter. He joined on with a local construction company and immediately began building homes in Mystic
3:03
Back at his house, things aren't so dreamy. The 100-year-old house needs a lot of repairs, the kitchen included
3:11
When the house was built, the space wasn't designed to support a modern-day kitchen
3:16
Limited storage. Bad lighting. Faulty plumbing. Outdated appliances. And a slew of structural problems came with Brian and Shelly's purchase
3:26
Goodbye from the Browers. Goodbye. So the dream of owning a country farmhouse with a beautiful and workable country kitchen in it
3:33
was a wish Paula Deen could easily grant. So y'all don't go anywhere
3:38
After all, Paula's Food Network show, Paula's Home Cooking, takes place in a country kitchen
3:43
that's good batter her exquisite taste and reputation as a quintessential country cook
3:50
gives her all the qualifications to help Brian and Shelly in her mind, they are all star kitchen
3:56
makeover winners I don't think it could have gone to a nicer couple
3:59
of course that dog didn't hurt anything either in an attempt to surprise
4:06
Shelly on the job Paula drops in on her unannounced with our cameras in tow
4:10
Shelly, hey I'm Paula I'm here to help you with your kitchen
4:17
I heard you want to. Hug me, girl, even though you smell like Mildred
4:23
Whoa. After surprising Shelly at the Mystic Aquarium, the two head over to find Brian on the job
4:31
making improvements to somebody else's home. You've always heard the expression, the cobbler's children have no shoes
4:37
Brian works for a construction company, so he's always building homes, and nice kitchens for everybody else, except for himself
4:48
Paula's about to find out that not even she can rattle Shelly's low-key husband. Brian
4:54
Brian! Hey! How are you? How are you? I'm Paula Deen. I know you are
5:01
I knew that when we surprised Brian that he was going to kind of be in shock
5:07
but that he was really excited as well, that he just, you know, this is what we were hoping for
5:14
She knows country, and our house is a nice little country cottage
5:18
I think it was a perfect match. The first step to fulfilling Shelly and Brian's dream
5:22
is to tear down the old kitchen and create a blank canvas for the new one
5:26
With the site primed and ready to go, Paula drops by to check in on her work in progress
5:31
and to make sure she has a firm understanding of her winner's likes and dislikes
5:36
What do y'all envision for this room? How do you want it used
5:41
I'd like to see something aesthetically pleasing just from, you know, the pretty point of view
5:47
But being more the cook of the family, I want something that's functionally going to work well
5:52
So Shelly wants it beautiful. You want it workable. I want it workable, exactly
5:58
That's exactly it. So I think we can do that. But there's one major detail Paula has to know in order to proceed
6:06
Tell me what your favorite color is. One of my favorite colors is blue. Is it
6:10
Uh-huh. I like blue, too. It's kind of a country color, isn't it
6:14
It reminds me of water. Uh-huh. And that's why I like it
6:18
And you know what? I've got something extra special in mind to do with this kitchen
6:25
No hints? No! No? No! If there's one thing about Paula, she's good with a secret
6:32
When we come back, it's no secret Paula likes to shop. Well, maybe it's my kitchen they're perfect for
6:39
For Shelly and Brian, of course. I'll take these right here, please. And just wait till you see what happens when Paula sends our all-star kitchen makeover winner
6:48
to Savannah, Georgia to get a cooking lesson from her own superstar sons, Jamie and Bobby Dean
6:55
Mama would be disappointed if she saw you avoiding the butter. Coming up next
7:06
This is the town of Mystic. It's a small village in southeastern Connecticut where
7:11
culture, countryside, and casinos dot the land. The charm of this little seaport
7:18
town and the opportunity for employment is what attracted Shelly and Brian Brower
7:22
Shelly a sea lion trainer Brian works in construction It here where they purchased their first home ever The 100 farmhouse has great character but a rotten kitchen We don have a lot of money
7:35
We spent pretty much everything we have on the house. That's why Shelly entered this contest on the Food Network
7:41
We obviously need more counter space. Hoping to get Brian a brand new kitchen
7:46
There are some things that you would love the person to have, and you can't give it to them
7:52
And I knew I couldn't give Brian this fabulous, wonderful kitchen. What Shelly and Brian needed was the one Food Network celebrity who could answer their cry for help
8:02
The kitchen's the heartbeat of the home. Paula's expertise would allow her to oversee the making of a country kitchen in keeping with Brian and Shelly's 100-year-old farmhouse
8:13
I'm here to help you with your kitchen. So she set out to grant them what they both wanted so desperately, an all-star kitchen makeover
8:20
I'm just thrilled that they won. Within days, the demolition begins on this century-old space
8:27
And once the canvas is blank, Paula can begin to work her magic. Anything worth having is worth a little work
8:34
Years ago, while living in Savannah, Georgia, Paula leaned on her southern cooking skills to support herself and her two sons
8:41
She created a home-based lunch delivery service called The Bag Lady. She cooked. Her two boys, Jamie and Bobby, delivered
8:48
Eventually, they opened the door to their very own restaurant, The Lady and Sons
8:58
Soon, cookbooks were launched along with their popular Food Network television show, Paula's Home Cooking
9:05
In other words, this little Southern Dynamo fails at nothing. Great credentials for an all-star kitchen makeover
9:12
For that makeover to be successful, Paula meets with Shelly and Brian to get a firm understanding of the couple's needs
9:19
So Shelly wants it beautiful. You want it workable. I want it workable, exactly
9:26
So I think we can do that. Now, it's a matter of getting the kitchen's contractor on the same page
9:32
You know, this is the back door when they come in. They want a place to just kind of hang their hat
9:36
And I'd really like to see her with an island. If the Center Island surprises Shelly, Paula's got another special touch up her sleeve
9:43
The aquarium, I think, really, really needs to be there. I think she'd get a kick
9:49
Yeah, I think that would just be a nice surprise for her. Yeah, she'd flip over that
9:54
Yeah. So here are just a few of the features Paula has in mind for Shelly and Brian's kitchen
10:00
Custom cabinets to give the newlyweds added storage. A Center Island topped with one of the world's most unique granites
10:07
a handcrafted piece for Shelly and Brian to hang their coats, and a cast iron stove to create the authentic feel of a true farmhouse kitchen
10:16
This is a rather small kitchen, so we've got to make every inch of space work in here
10:22
Shelly and Brian move into a rental house as construction on their own moves into high gear
10:29
Paula sets out to get better acquainted with the little town of Mystic. Now that was more the size I was thinking of
10:35
on a shopping spree for her all-star kitchen makeover winners. How cute are they? I adore that wreath
10:44
Unfortunately, but not too often, our celebrity chef loses focus on whose kitchen she's shopping for
10:50
Maybe it's my kitchen they're perfect for. I'll take these right here, please
10:56
But eventually, gets back on track. Oh, gosh. Paula's designing for a country-style kitchen
11:04
But being that she's a little unpredictable by nature, she wants to add some unexpected elements to the space
11:10
like this stained glass chandelier. Paula likes that the colors are in keeping with what's to come
11:15
Wrap it up, girl. I'm not looking any further. I think that's perfect. Last and certainly not least
11:20
a final gift for the one applicant Paula would never ignore. I just love my dogs, y'all
11:26
And Brian and Shelly probably don't realize what a big part their dog played in them getting this kitchen makeover
11:31
So he deserves something good, too. And I've got just the perfect gift for him, and I can't hardly wait to get it in the kitchen
11:38
A kitchen that's quickly taking shape from the floor up. The dining room has this pine plank flooring, so we're going to go ahead and extend that look into the new kitchen
11:51
To make it even more authentic, we're going to use these antique nails with a rosebud head
11:56
Throw some stain on there, and it'll look like it always existed. Paula wants Shelly and Brian's kitchen to feel spacious, so light-colored cabinets, much like the ones on her own show, are a must
12:08
She chooses a soft, buttery cream cabinet color to accent the counters and the stove she selected
12:13
Doors with glass inserts will make the room feel more open. The corners are carefully sanded to give them a weathered, antique look
12:21
A glaze provides depth and dimension. A drab corner at Shelly and Brian's will be fitted with a handcrafted piece for coats and hats
12:28
In a kitchen influenced by Paula Deen, every inch of space has to be special and reflect the people who live there
12:35
Shelly really loves what she does. And what Paula wanted to do was actually incorporate some of Shelly's passion into the kitchen
12:43
So is it possible to take something like this and bring it down into this
12:49
Peter, absolutely. We can take anything that you can imagine and make it to scale
12:54
Nowadays, it's very common to have a fish tank in the kitchen because it's so soothing
12:58
It's this place where you spend most of your time. Is it possible to get the fish to actually match what we have in the kitchen
13:05
Luckily, Mother Nature supplies us with an abundance of colors for fish
13:09
I mean, so anything that, you know, you could imagine that's out for colors on tiles or floors or ceilings
13:16
we can pretty much match it with the type of fish. So in just a matter of days, Paula will see to it that a little bit of the seaport town
13:24
Shelly and Brian now call home will become that soothing element in their
13:28
unconventional country kitchen. A country kitchen with custom cabinets on the way
13:34
When we come back... I just wanted to bring a little something
13:38
Southern to y'all up here. Paula brings a taste of Savannah to the restaurant
13:42
made famous in the Julia Roberts film Mystic Pizza. And oh, what a pizza it is
13:47
How about collard green pizza? Who says you can't combine marinara and mayonnaise
13:53
Oh, yum. See for yourself when Food Network's All-Star Kitchen Makeover returns
14:07
While the All-Star Kitchen Makeover contest winners are busy at work, a construction crew has invaded their home to give them the kitchen of their dreams
14:17
The inspiration behind it all? Food Network's celebrity chef, Paula Deen. When I was playing in my own kitchen, it was important that everything had a rhyme and reason
14:28
that it functioned and everything flowed very, very well. I could go from one piece of equipment to the other without doing a whole bunch of walking
14:36
Since the area is so small in the Browers farmhouse, every inch of space counts
14:41
Paula takes that into account to accommodate for the cast iron oven she chose that's similar to the one on her cooking show
14:47
She knew it would be a perfect fit for this country kitchen. This is it And 60 little pieces we going to put this thing together You ready Some assembly required
15:16
The whole oven is made out of cast iron, so it stays one uniform temperature
15:21
Wow. Always on. Always on. It's never hot enough on the outside to burn you
15:27
but it's just warm to the touch, and it's covered in enamel
15:34
Fantasy kitchens don't happen overnight. That's evident when the stove alone takes an entire day to assemble
15:40
But the goal here is to make dreams come true no matter what it takes
15:44
I would most like to see an island in the kitchen when I walk in
15:49
With the center island in, it's time to top it off. Paula likes natural stone surfaces
15:54
She chose soapstone for her own kitchen. But I have to tell y'all, if you choose that for your counters, it scratches
16:04
That's why Paula chose granite for Shelly and Brian's kitchen. It's a rare granite called Brazilian Blue Bahia
16:10
Paula has excellent taste. This is one of the more exotic stones that we carry, and we have over 350 colors of stone to choose from
16:18
Of those colors, two were chosen. Blue Bahia for the center island and..
16:23
This is white honey granite. It's from Sri Lanka. Paula picked this for the perimeter of the kitchen
16:30
Granite is one of the best surfaces used for a kitchen countertop
16:35
Fabulous for cooking. Paula wants a touch of elegance incorporated into the granite
16:40
She chose a fleur-de-lis because it's a symbol of perfection, light, and life
16:45
The ideal design for the foundation of this kitchen, reinforcing Paula's wish that this couple have a long and happy life together
16:53
I hope they like this granite because it's here. It's here. It's here forever
16:59
It's here to stay. While the countertops are going in, Paula, Shelly, and Brian take a trip to Mystic Pizza
17:06
It was the setting for the hit movie starring Julia Roberts. Now, another pretty woman is about to combine her southern roots with this northern eatery
17:14
in the hope of giving her winning couple a memorable recipe to take back to their new kitchen
17:19
How about collard green pizza? You like collard greens? Sure. Collard greens
17:29
These were shipped up from the Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah. So look in here
17:36
Have y'all ever eaten? You've eaten collard greens. I have. You're from Charleston, Brian
17:40
How are we going to get this ham hawk out of here? I don't even know what the hawk of a ham is
17:46
Shelly's soon to find out it's the tasty lower portion of the hog's hind leg
17:50
All right, stick your hands down in there, Shelly, and taste that. Shelly's not an extremely experimental eater
17:58
Just pull one out? Uh-huh, just pull one out and taste it. I want no very big taste
18:08
I can taste it. She's from Minnesota, so collard greens and ham hocks
18:12
are a completely foreign country for her. Instead of marinara, we're going to start out
18:17
with a cream cheese and mayonnaise base. How long y'all been married
18:29
Just a year and a half. A year and a half. I'm almost married a year
18:35
Yeah. Hope you don't get pregnant before I do. Are y'all working on it
18:41
Not right now. Not as we speak, no. That's a very good thing, Brian
18:48
How does that taste? A taste test from Brian reveals that something's missing
18:53
Let's taste this. Looks like Thousand Island dressing, doesn't it? Oh, yum
19:03
A little bit of Mystic Pizza's own marinara sauce and the combination of North meets South works
19:10
The pizza is decorated with colored greens, ham hock and bacon. All right, what y'all say, let's get it in the oven
19:19
Oh, my goodness. That looks like a big daddy piece. A big daddy
19:29
Thank you. I think we should propose a toast. To a new kitchen
19:32
To a new kitchen. To a new kitchen. Cheers. Cheers. Paula has forever left her mark at Mystic Pizza
19:42
Just as you're about to see Brian leave his and her kitchen in Savannah
19:46
Mama would be disappointed if she saw you avoiding the butter. Paula's boys are soon to teach him a lesson or two at The Lady and Sons
19:53
I saw two of them kissing. And the lady becomes better acquainted with Shelly and her slippery friends
19:59
Coming up next. Food Network wants to give you the kitchen of your dreams
20:11
This Food Network contest inspired Shelly Brower, a sea lion trainer, to send in a tape and application to win her husband Brian, a construction worker
20:20
something they so desperately needed, a kitchen in their 100-year-old farmhouse. Brian takes wonderful care of me, and I knew I couldn't give Brian this fabulous, wonderful kitchen
20:31
and this was a way of doing it. The house is the couple's first home and a fixer-upper if ever there was one
20:38
Limited storage, bad lighting, faulty plumbing, outdated appliances, and a ton of structural problems came with Brian and Shelly's purchase
20:48
I'm here to help you with your kitchen. So Paula Deen set out to grant them what they wanted most
20:53
a new kitchen in keeping with the age-old house. The kitchen's the heartbeat of the home
20:59
A heartbeat that would last forever if Paula Deen has anything to do with it
21:04
We're doing this kitchen in a way that it's going to have longevity as well
21:10
She's overseeing Brian and Shelly's makeover as if it were her own. I just got through doing a kitchen, and to me it's going to be a one-shot deal
21:18
It's going to be the final deal. That's why Paula insists on using top-of-the-line products
21:23
products with a country farmhouse feel that will last her homeowners a lifetime
21:29
She knows country, and our house is a nice little country cottage
21:33
I think it was a perfect match. Custom cabinets. A cobalt blue cast-iron stove
21:40
A fully integrated refrigerator. and a center island topped with one of the world's most unique granites
21:49
are just a few of the features creating Shelly and Brian's dream kitchen come true
21:54
A farmhouse sink and antique fixtures help to create the country kitchen feel
21:58
Paula Deen envisions for the space. The next addition, hand-painted tiles with elegant country themes on them
22:06
The subject is sketched on the piece of tile and then painted. The very fine brush, I take the black paint and I go around the entire design itself
22:16
but very delicately. It adds real punch, real definition, and it makes a dramatic difference
22:22
As an added surprise a hand plate with Paula signature on it will also be incorporated into the kitchen Well Peter how does this look Yep looks good Your grapes hanging the right way Yep grapes hang down
22:35
Yeah, there you go. All right. The tiles are spread randomly around the kitchen like little pieces of art
22:44
In the meantime, Paula spends the day with Shelly, getting better acquainted with her co-workers
22:49
They know it's time to eat. I would love to. Well, does he swallow
22:55
He's wild as a whole. One big gulp. They don't chew their fish. I saw two of them kissing
23:01
Are they affectionate with people? It depends on the sea lion, you know, if they're..
23:05
If they're... I gotta teach you how to cook, girl. Me? While Paula learns more about Shelly and her sea lions
23:17
Paula sends Brian to Savannah, Georgia, to learn more about the lady overseeing his kitchen makeover
23:23
His guides are the two men closest to Paula, sons Jamie and Bobby Dean
23:27
Jump on this bus right here. The day begins with a quick trolley tour
23:33
This little spot right here, that's 311 West Congress Street. That's where we moved to when we came downtown, and that's where we really made a name for ourselves
23:41
That little building was good to us. This is the true start of our business
23:49
Golly, look how big those trees are. I remember when that pine tree was planted. That's the, uh..
23:54
And you started your business out of that house? That's where we were. It's going to be right there. The tour wouldn't be complete without dropping by the church where their mother got married
24:12
This is it. It's beautiful. Yeah. Isn't it pretty? This is where Mom's wedding was
24:17
They had archways of flowers built up down the walkway. They had all the lights set up outside
24:26
these windows that was just coming through here. So Brian, it was beautiful. From Paula's past to Paula's present
24:33
it's time to introduce Brian to the Lady and Sons. Guests are not exempt from work
24:38
Oh, now that was sorry. That was sorry? Yeah, that was sorry. That was sorry
24:45
Yeah! Next job description, making hoe cakes. Put them back here towards back in that butter
24:54
Now, Mama would be disappointed if she saw you avoiding the butter. What are you doing
25:02
I think I'm failing miserably. Yeah, take these over here, scoot them over, and see if we can't save half of them
25:08
Okay, you're doing terrible. All right, thank you. Bobby and Jamie overlook Brian's hoe cake faux pas
25:13
Others feel differently. See you, Galo. L, call S. P, call stuff, hear me
25:20
With his failing grade, Brian is relocated to something a little less challenging
25:25
Let's see. Two ends. Okay, if you'd like to leave your address for the complaint
25:31
it's a customer on there when they give that. I'll pour that on to you. Do you enjoy the construction business
25:37
I do. Good. Good. Brian is given a final duty. I'd like to add that these are low-fat, as with everything
25:46
practicing for the day he'll serve homemade meals to shelly in their brand new kitchen
25:50
paula's wish to create a farmhouse kitchen with elements that reflect both brian and shelly has
25:55
almost become a reality an extra touch of local flair will accomplish her goal that's why paula
26:00
turns to gary anderson a renowned wood carver and mystic gary recreated the ornament that sits at
26:06
the bow of the replicated slave ship the amistad the eagle is a plaster uh model that i used to do
26:14
the carving from, and that's about half the size. The final version was six feet long. That's about
26:18
three feet long. His expertise makes him the ideal candidate to create a cutting board for
26:24
Shelly and Brian's kitchen. The board is inspired by an existing antique. To make something like that
26:29
more personal for Brian and Shelly, it would have to have something that meant something to them
26:34
in this case the sea lions around the outside. It's kind of like an extended yin-yang, which is a lot
26:39
of them. It's a cool project on a lot of different levels in that I've never worked on sea lions
26:46
before. My family and I went to the Mystic Aquarium with the idea that I'd do a little
26:51
research on what sea lions look like because like most people I had a vague idea but if you put a
26:57
seal next to a sea lion I wouldn't have known the difference. After extensive on-the-job research
27:02
Gary sets out to create a cutting board unlike any other. I started doing a clay model because clay
27:08
If you go right into the wood, wood's expensive, it's hard to work with. Clay is forgiving
27:14
The artistry for Gary is in the details. When you do something like this where each one is being hand carved
27:20
none of them is going to come out exactly the same anyway. And they're all going to have their own personality
27:25
When Gary finishes the board, it will be stained and coated in a salad oil
27:28
to last Shelly and Brian a lifetime. I'm hoping that the cutting board is actually something that would mean something to them
27:35
They would want their kitchen personalized. They want it to be a piece of them, not just like every other kitchen
27:47
Oh, my. Coming up next, Shelly and Brian come home to their brand new farmhouse kitchen
27:54
This is our house. This is amazing. When Food Network's All-Star Kitchen makeover continues
28:07
All-Star Kitchen Makeover winners Shelly and Brian Brower will soon be walking into their new kitchen
28:14
a kitchen they abandoned days ago so a team of workers could make their dream a reality
28:19
It's a little strange knowing that there's people in our home taking over, doing things that we have no control over
28:25
But what puts Brian and Shelly at ease is the person behind the All-Star Kitchen Makeover
28:30
Paula Deen is a little larger than life, but she is every bit as nice as you would like to think she really is
28:36
She's just as down to earth and like your neighbor or like your best friend's mom
28:42
Paula is fabulous. She sparkles. She's very lively and she's fun and she's friendly
28:47
To a new kitchen. It was a perfect match. Paula Dean firmly believes that a kitchen should be a warm and inviting place
28:59
Now what could be warmer and more inviting than a place to hang your hat
29:06
lifting with these. Now that the hall tree is in, there goes the last tenant
29:11
Okay guys, make us proud. Final touches complete this customized country kitchen
29:16
So this will be like bringing a little piece of her work into her kitchen
29:22
And I think she's going to love it. Didn't think I had it in, did ya
29:50
Okay, I'm gonna go get Shelly and Brian right now. Not only do they have a big surprise in that house waiting for them
29:56
but they have an even bigger surprise on her way right now. and it's Paula Deen
30:06
I cannot wait. This is it, guys. We are so ready. This is it
30:11
Ready for your new kitchen. What's these last couple of days been like, you guys
30:16
It's been a little bit nerve-wracking. We have no idea what's going on at our house. We're getting pretty anxious as it comes closer
30:22
and now it's finally here and I just can't wait to see it. What is your biggest fear
30:27
about what you might find in your new kitchen? A curtain under our sink is something we've done
30:32
That's Brian's concern. It's my major concern, a curtain under my sink. I don't want a frilly, poofy curtain under my sink
30:38
No frilly, poofy curtain under your sink? What else? No roosters. No roosters
30:42
No roosters. No strawberries. What else? No baskets hanging from the ceiling, hopefully
30:48
Those are all things that you would hate if you got into the kitchen and you saw a rooster or a basket
30:53
A rooster in a basket. Forget about it. I trust Paula completely
30:57
Yeah, we have complete faith that she's done a good job on our kitchen. Yes. Shelly and Brian have thanked me several times for coming in and helping them
31:07
It's been such a wonderful experience. And it's so much fun to give
31:14
Truly is. I think just walking in the kitchen itself and seeing just in my mind's eye, I have what it was
31:25
and to replace it with something that I can't even imagine. I mean, I can't even imagine what it's going to look like
31:33
All right, guys, no more excuses. We can have a brand new kitchen this way
31:39
Great. Now, no more takeout. Nothing. Let's go. I think she's going to be bowled over when she walks in and sees that beautiful granite
31:46
and that range that we've gotten her and the beautiful chandelier. I think she's just going to be bowled over
31:56
Are you ready? Yes. Ready. Open your eyes. Oh. Oh my
32:08
It is beautiful. Which house is this? This is our house. This is amazing
32:14

33:23
Look at the bench over there. That's amazing. You have the bench. You have the hidden fridge
33:27
You have the fish tank. You have the chandelier. You have this with the insets
33:32
This inset is amazing. Yeah, it's incredible. You also have, I don't know if you noticed this or not, front and back
33:37
You have a little spice rack area. All right. Ah. Cool. On both sides, huh
33:43
And let's see. Let's see. One, two. One, two, three, four. Four
33:49
Are you guys expecting company anytime soon? No, I don't think we are. You know what
33:53
We like company. We're ready. We're ready to entertain. Look at this kitchen
33:58
Paula Dean and her husband Michael are going to be here in a few hours
34:02
So you might want to break in that stove and start cooking
34:06
What should we make? Check the fridge. Do we have the proper ingredients for our..
34:12
I can't even notice ingredients. There was nothing in the fridge, huh, guys? Guess not. Ah, looks like you're going to have to go shopping, huh
34:18
So, with guests on the way, and not just any guests, Shelly and Brian have a grocery cart to fill and a menu to plan
34:28
Okay, we gotta get some chicken for the Thai chicken pizza. They decide to surprise Paula and her husband Michael with Brian's self-proclaimed famous Thai chicken pizza
34:36
Just get a little everything. A little... Some blueberries, some raspberries. Dessert is Paula Deen's recipe for fruit pizza
34:42
They want to cook with Paula, so they scoop up all the ingredients it'll take to make it happen
34:46
Chocolate, chocolate. Here we go. Candy Isle. It's not Grandma's homemade, but it's going to work
34:56
With dinner for four in bags... Everything will taste better in our new kitchen
35:01
...and loaded, it's time to take their new kitchen for a test drive
35:07
Where do we start? I guess I'm in the code, aren't I? Yee-hoo
35:11
When Food Network's All-Star Kitchen makeover returns, Shelly and Brian welcome their favorite chef and her dinner date
35:19
as Paula adds yet another sweet touch to this brand new kitchen
35:24
This is our mozzarella cheese. Yum. What'd you say, Michael? Yum. After days of being away from their little country farmhouse

36:36
You just start washing all those, find some bowls. And retains his title as king of the kitchen
36:41
No cutting board needed, just tap away. His sous chef, focused elsewhere
36:46
Love the fish. They are distracting, aren't they? Look good

37:42

37:49
You know, Sadie, I think, had something to do with y'all winning this
37:53
She did. She was a key part of our tape. We could not forget Sadie, so open that up
37:59

38:06

38:35
It's amazing, isn't it? Yes. And you just dig the chandelier. Love the chandelier
38:40
I fell in love with it when I saw it. And the aquarium, I just wanted so badly for you to have something that was like a little piece of your work here

39:11
I brought the man with the appetite with me. Before Paula and Michael dig into dinner
39:16
Brian's got dessert news that never comes as a shock to a Food Network celebrity chef
39:20
So we have tried to get all the ingredients lined up and ready for you, and we're going to put you to work
39:27
That's no problem. That's no problem, guys. You see that man over there
39:31
His sweet tooth is like this. The center island is cleared. This looks so good
39:38
And Paula quickly discovers that her All-Star Kitchen winners have a winning recipe of their own
39:43
Mmm. That's delicious. I got to cook instead of eat. Brian and Shelly let their dinner guests take the lead
39:52
since Paula enjoys cooking and Michael enjoys making dessert happen faster. We're going to frost it with cream cheese and powdered sugar
40:02
While the dessert crust browns, Paula makes sure the new residents aren't ignored
40:07
Do you want to feed our fish, Paula? I do. All right. I can't stand the thoughts of us eating and them not eating
40:14
Isn't this neat the way that's... It's so neat. With the fish fed, Paula can bake in good conscience
40:20
Michael probably can't wait, can you? Oh, I'm ready. Always ready. I know you're always ready for something sweet
40:27
That's why you love me. That's correct. All right, well, let's design it

40:50
Oh, yum. Look at his little eyes. They just light up when desserts come around, don't they
40:56
The first meal we had together, we toasted with pizza. I think it's only fitting that we toast with our dessert pizza
41:08
Yum. Thank you. Thank you. All right, now take this off and this will be my piece right here
41:21
It's been wonderful being with this couple. I feel like I really need to thank them because when it's all said and done
